Business Performance Solutions – Our Client Studies

Cascade Fire Protection Ltd. is just over two years old. The last two years have been powerful and full of challenges for its two owners, Eric Lindquist and Andy Smith.

They were both journeymen in their field, with the desire, determination, and drive to create a viable company of their own. Neither had been in a business before and faced the normal start-up problems, exacerbated by geography: two in-home offices an hour’s drive apart and four vans out in the field servicing their large volume of customers. Their team out in the field can access their scheduled jobs, company records, details about the customer, and work order information right on the site using their iPhones and Blackberries.

The hosted solution also saved them significant upfront money since they did not have to buy software – EVER. They are always guaranteed the most recent version of an accounting program of their choice, the full Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2007 package, as well as the Business Connect Intranet which allows them to share a wide range of information and store the knowledge of the company in one central location.

Business Performance Solutions’ Software as a Service provides them with full support from professional IT staff, remote backup and full virus protection. Services are on a fixed monthly fee basis and allowed them to avoid:

• purchasing the software
• renting extra office space
• buying expensive computer network equipment
• hiring and supervising IT staff
• worrying about computer downtime or backups

In spite of not having their own network and software in-house, they are completely connected and can work remotely and share all the information without duplication of effort.

Many of their suppliers are amazed at the success they have achieved in such a short time – most thought they had been in business for at least five years.

Currently they have eight employees and four vans out in the field. They were able to exceed the budget projections for the first two years. This is exceptional!

They celebrated their second successful year in business in a very traditional Vancouver Island way. Yes, Eric and Andy have taken the whole staff out on a fishing trip.
